Top 10 Criteria of Business Groups
1. The best business networking groups meet weekly, and their meeting places are located within the parameters of where those the attendees desire to do business with are located.
2. The business networking group leaders believe in free enterprise and are not actively promoting the “buying” of exclusivity.
3. The group leaders are running their own successful businesses (in addition to leading the networking group). It is extremely important to make sure the networking group leaders are not just buying time until they find other jobs, make career changes, etc. Otherwise, when the group leaders make these important changes in their own lives, the leadership of the networking group will dwindle.
4. The attendance of the business networking group is being tracked by the group leaders, and a handout is provided each week to the meeting attendees. The handout provides contact information of the previous week’s attendees (third-party reinforcement for exchanging business cards the previous week – an additional exposure turn that a networker didn’t have to work for!).
5. Each business networking group attendee is given 30-60 seconds to share information about themselves and their businesses with the other meeting attendees.
6. The best business networking groups consistently meet at the same location each week.
7. The arrangement of the meeting room for the business networking group forms clusters of tables and chairs, instead of being set up in banquet style.
8. The business networking group has valuable corporate and executive citizens that are active sponsors of the group.
9. The leaders of the business networking group manage the meeting time properly.
10. Ample time is provided toward the end of each meeting for thank yous and announcements.
Best Wishes for Your Networking Success, Kay
